The STEM industry is growing rapidly and as such the importance of STEM subjects for our students. Securing effective partnerships in the sector is crucial to the quality and effectiveness of our programme, including breaking down barriers for students to progress, such as in gender stereotyping.
We were delighted to receive a sponsorship opportunity for 2 GMAT students, in Year 5 at Manchester Communication Primary Academy, to attend the 2019 SciTech Holiday Programme. These prestigious Holiday Clubs offer children a special opportunity to take part in a rich variety of scientific and technological activities.
These places for GMAT students were kindly sponsored by Hilary Vaughan Associates Ltd. Hilary Vaughan is passionate about the promotion of STEM subjects, particularly for young females and to give them the opportunity to enjoy science in a fun environment. The intention being to encourage the pursuit of STEM subjects and careers in young women.
The students had a thoroughly memorable and enjoyable week long experience in August. Anthonia said ‘I learnt so much in one week and it has inspired me to want to know so much more about science’. Adding that ‘The experiments were brilliant! especially the one which involved crushing the oil drum with air pressure and running and jumping on custard!! Ayesha said ‘I feel lucky to have been chosen for this opportunity and would recommend the holiday camp to all my friends!’
