'Year 1 had a lovely day at Clitheroe Castle. The children met the Dragon Protection Officer and enrolled in SWORD (Society for the Welfare of Rare Dragons). On this exciting and immersive day the children were taught all the skills they needed to become a SWORD Ranger.
The children discovered the secret history of SWORD, how to identify different dragons, discover where they live, what they eat, their likes and dislikes and how to care for them. They also explored and trained in the sword and shield techniques that are required to stop Dragon Slayers. Once the tasks were completed, the children were told the tale of ‘The Clitheroe Dragon’. We then ended the day with a tour around the castle and museum.
